An exquisite creation that captures the imagination, Asian Dream’s textured smoke effect folds around the figure much like the sleek gloves as her only cover. The gloves and mask accessorize a pose where she tries to conceal her sensuality, but more, create a connection between fingers and mind, or as Legac expresses, “between blindness and protection.” The model wrapped in the red tones, symbolizing the 3 senses of vision, taste and touch, is LindasTran, a famous Asian Model. Given as a gift photograph to Legac from the model, he interpreted his vision into the 3 senses, where red also takes a contrasted meaning of warning and danger with the sensuality of love. Her feathered mask and slightly open mouth let off that her mind cannot restrain what her body tries to conceal. Drawing inward in her seated posture, the mask explodes outward into the alarming redness of exhibitionism. Legac’s works exhibit an intense language of body, where Asian Dream is a complex conversation between artist and model. It captures an emotion where she wants to save her pleasure inside, but cannot hold back any longer as waves of desire flow from her masked reality. She is much like the hundreds of women in the massage parlors of Bangkok, where they dream of being saved by a “Fareng” (occidental man) to escape a destitute life of masked emotions and desire.

What does this delicious model hold tightly in her hand, reaching to taste or absorb it through her senses? For Legac it is an ambiguous focus on addiction, a driving force that makes us live, whether good or bad, addiction is something we indulge in or fight. The woman is herself addicting to the eye, engaged in her sensation, creating a fascination and desire for whatever she holds. It is almost a teasing posture, taunting us and within icy tones of glimmering hard edges, she is frozen in desire, too cold for us to touch, no matter how much we want a taste. Legac has expressed that this is something he loves about Asian women, “They may look very cold at first, but they warm up once they feel secure and sometimes it may get a bit too hot.” The piece is Legac’s shared addiction and attraction he has developed for Asian women, like a piece of iron attracted to a strong magnet. The western fascination of exotic Asian beauty is something Legac relates to John Lennon and Yoko Ono, perhaps explaining why Lennon was staying locked in his hotel room for weeks with Yoko.
